It’s around this time every year, the rumors surrounding the next version of the iPhone gain momentum. There is already a deluge of new videos and images showing us what we can expect from the new device. Let’s take a look at what we’ve seen so far.
iPhone 6 Design
We have heard that Apple may be opting for an even slimmer phone with a more rounded body, some sources are suggesting the iPhone 6 could be quite similar to the iPad. Another leak suggests that the iPhone 6 will have a full metal body made from aluminum. Most sources are reporting the new iPhone will be taller and wider compared to the current model, accommodating the new screen sizes. There will be a 4.7 inch and possibly a 5.5 or 5.6 inch version.
Apple have recently won a patent for ‘Fused glass device housings’ this technology will help to make Apple devices such as the iphone and iPad stronger and more resilient by fusing together pieces of glass. One of the most talked about rumors surrounds the use of Sapphire glass; a super-tough material that may be used for the new screen, below we have a video produced by Tech vlogger Marques Brownlee, proving just how amazing the Sapphire-glass is. He tries to scratch the screen with a knife and a set of keys, to no avail. This would certainly be a warmly welcomed feature for many people who have dropped and smashed their screens in the past. The tough Sapphire glass is already in use on the iPhone 5s; providing scratch resistant protection for the fingerprint scanner.
iPhone 6 Release Date
Rumors suggest the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 is currently in production and will hopefully hit the shelves as early as August 2014, with the larger 5.5 inch model possibly coming in September. We have heard there may be a delay with the larger 5.5 inch model, some sources are predicting it might be released early 2015. We will let you know as soon as Apple sheds some light on their schedules.
How much will the iPhone 6 Cost in the UK / US?
Currently the only solid indication on price came from Amazon Japan, they recently listed the 4.7 inch 64GB model for ¥139,999, this equates to around £800 in the UK and $1,370 in the US.
