Candle-Powered Bluetooth Speaker: Pelty

| June 29, 2014 |

This ingenious fire powered speaker is both primitive in method and elegant in form. The idea behind this device came about when an Italian engineer named Gianluca was hosting a dinner party. His plastic, battery powered Bluetooth speaker looked tacky and out of place on the dining table, so he started thinking about how he could create a plastic-less, functional and stylish speaker.

He remembered a method of transforming thermal energy into electric energy known as the “Peltier effect”. 18 Months later, after extensive testing in his basement, the first prototype was born. The Pelty has been designed with only natural materials including ceramic, glass and wood.

Gianluca and his team have launched a campaign on IndieGogo in order to fund the project, they are looking to raise $100,000 to help with the further R&D costs. A donation of $199 will secure a Pelty, there are also color and personalization options available with larger donations.

This marvelous, battery-less speaker system will sound your favorite music for up to 5 hours with a single candle and with a quick change, the party is endless.
