Funky LED Cycle Lights – Monkey Light 8-Bit Bike Wheel Light

| May 22, 2012 |

If you own a bike and are thinking of pimping it up a little; look no further, the Monkey 8-bit light will definitely jazz up your evening rides. The light comes with a battery pack which straps onto the wheel hub; thus avoiding any balance issues.

The main light unit looks like a PCB, well I guess that’s because it is a circuit board, with a load of super bright LED’s. Each side has five LED’s, there are a couple of buttons that control the light patterns and the colours.

There are twenty different patterns to choose from including space aliens, skulls, rockets, fiery comets, to name just a few. Each of these patterns has many colour options.

Ideally you should get two; one for each wheel, then just ride hard; the more complex patterns are best looking at speeds over 10mph. These Monkey lights are ok up to 40mph, who knows what happens if you pass the 40 mark.

They are waterproof and obviously vibration proof. Your bikes wheels will need to be at least 20” which is a shame as they look great for kids.

The Monkey Light 8-Bit Bike Wheel Light is available over at ThinkGeek and is priced at $49.99. Here we have a video of the lights in action:
