Power Gadgets with Your Camp Fire, BioLite CampStove

| April 28, 2012 |

If you’re thinking about a camping trip this summer; you should defiantly take a look at the BioLite CampStove.  This innovative and useful gadget has come to fruition after two years of design and experimentations.

All you need to power the stove are twigs, usually pretty easy to source on a camping trip; perfect, as long as you’re not hiking in the Antarctic.

Once alight the BioLite stove will convert the heat from the fire into electrical energy, this electricity can be used to power and charge any USB powered device such as smartphones, tablets, GPS devices, or LED lighting for the campsite.

Every little helps; by using the already dead twigs and branches instead of petroleum based fuel, you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint.

The CampStove could also come in handy in the event of power outages, especially if you live somewhere remote; you’ll still be able to cook and power you electrical’s.

This camping godsend is fairly light at 935g, and it folds up for easy packing. You can reserve them now on BioLiteStove.com, the price is $129 (£83), their site says the stoves are currently being manufactured and will be ready for camping season.

This is certainly one of the best ideas I have seen for a long while, and the best part is that there is a larger version named HomeStove, this could be really helpful for people in developing countries. Please share your thoughts below.
