Inflatable Paddle Board, the Ku Hoe He’e Nalu

| April 20, 2012 |

Now I am definitely not built for surfing. But I still had to take a closer look at this inflatable board that is designed to let you try a different form of surfing to the modern version we’re all familiar with today.

Of course if you are lucky enough to live in or near Waialua Bay in Oahu, you’ll probably already know about this. But then I figure if you did live there you would be out enjoying the bay and not reading this. So for those who remain, let me tell you about the Ku Hoe He’e Nalu inflatable board.

It comes with its own backpack so once you have deflated it you can roll it up and pop it back in there quite easily. It’s certainly a lot better than trying to carry around a full size board. They even include a hand pump so you don’t have to worry about buying one of those separately either. It has a maximum user weight of 265lbs, which works out to just shy of 19 stone, so it should be able to accommodate most people.

You also get a fin which you can leave off if you want to, although it works better when you’re using the paddle that comes with it too. As you can see this is a complete kit for enjoying this ancient form of surfing in Waialua Bay. You’ll need to part with an eye watering $899.95 (£570) to get one, but it could be worth it for surfing aficionados.
