Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 Announced

| April 16, 2012 |

So you want a tablet of some kind but you’re not keen on the iPad. In that case you may want to take a closer look at the Lenovo IdeaTab S2109. The IdeaTab comes packed with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, and it actually measure up the same as the iPad in terms of size, so you’ll find the 9.7-inch screen appealing right from the start.

It has 1.3MP front camera which is perfect for video chats. No rear camera will make it little awkward to take general photos. It is too early to reveal a price for this forthcoming piece of kit, but it should be quite affordable as it is the next generation on from the IdeaTab S2.

Since this retails for around $349 the next model shouldn’t be too much more expensive than this. Anyone who likes the Android platform should keep an eye on this tablet.  The specs look pretty good in the video. One downside seems to be the screen resolution, which comes in at 1024 by 768 pixels, we’ll just have to wait and see the real life screen to comment further.

It doesn’t quite match iPad and it does make you wonder whether Lenovo will shoot themselves in the foot by not upgrading it to something a little better. The Google Tablet should be arriving in June, it will be interesting to see how the market share plays out, how do you think the Lenovo will fair? Check out this video from Lenovo:
