Sony Xperia Sola Announced

| March 19, 2012 |

Yes it is time once again to find a brand new Xperia model to review. Sony has just announced that another model, the Sola, is available. This is a super thin phone with a nice design and that familiar Sony feel.

They may not be involved with Ericsson anymore but they are definitely looking to prove that they’re no worse off without them. One thing that stands out about the Sola is the floating touch system of operation.

This could take some getting used to because you don’t actually have to touch the screen to move the cursor around. You can just tap it when you see what you want to access, but the floating thing is going to take some getting used to for new users. It will be interesting to see how it fares in the future.

The display gives you a 3.7 inch screen and you even get surround sound with it. Watch out for SmartTags from Sony as well, since they will come in the box. These enable you to make light work of making sure your smart phone is set up just right for your needs.

As far as appearance goes the phone is attractive and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, so this might already be familiar to you. You will be able to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this summer.

With premium Sony entertainment also thrown in, this is undoubtedly a great addition to the Xperia range.

Here we have a video explaining how the new Xperia SmartTags system works:
