AR Drone 2.0, Open for Pre-Orders

| March 17, 2012 |

Ah there is nothing quite like a flying toy to get your interest up, is there? That certainly applies to me, which is why I am excited at the prospect of a brand new AR.Drone release that is coming soon.

If you were lucky enough to have the original AR.Drone you will probably already be looking at your watch wondering when the new model is coming out and when you’ll be able to get your hands on it.

Well, Brookstone will have limited stock on May 15 for the US, while the mere mortals in the UK will have to wait until June to get their paws on one. The price will be around $300 (£200) so that should give you a rough idea of what you’ll have to pay to get your own one over here.

But what does this new and improved model have to show us? Well, to my mind the best new addition is a video camera. Just imagine being able to fly your AR.Drone and then sit back and watch the progress you made afterwards. This will be pure bliss (for me anyway).

I’ve got my iPhone so I’ll be flying it with this, but an iPad or Android device will do the job just as nicely. All in all this looks like a good upgrade to the original model and I can’t wait to put it through its paces.
