More than one year after it was first unveiled at CES 2011, Grace Digital, the San Diego-based company has announced the release of its flagship product, the Mondo Wi-Fi Music Player and Internet Radio.
The Mondo can access thousands of online radio stations over an 802.11n Wi-Fi connection. It can also stream music stored on a computer or storage device connected to the network.
In addition to online radio stations, the Mondo can also stream music from Sirius XM, NPR, CNN, BBC, iHeartRadio and so on. Equipped with a 3.5” LCD screen, the Mondo has 30 settings for backlight brightness, and can display radio station logos as well as Pandora album network when available.
You can store up to 100 stations in a special folder, besides pre-set buttons to easily access up to ten of your favourite stations. The Mondo is priced at $180 and is available in black or white.
The built-in clock adjusts to the right time once you select the time zone you are in. It has five alarm settings and a dedicated snooze button, should you wish to use it to wake you up.
The Mondo boasts of a Class D digital amplifier. It delivers an audio output of 12 watts via the 3” woofer and 1” tweeter. RCA out jacks allow you to connect the Mondo to your home Hi-Fi system.
If you want to play music stored on your computer or other portable music players, use the USB port and auxiliary input features respectively.
