New Baby Monitors from VTech

VTech, best known as the world’s largest manufacturer of cordless telephones for homes, has launched two new baby monitors under its “Safe and Sound” range.

The VM321 is a video and audio monitor priced at $150 (£100), while the DM221 is a digital audio monitor priced at a more affordable $40 (£27).

Both products rely on superior digital communication technology that improves range as well as sound/image quality. These devices also reduce the risk of interference from other devices in the home. As a result, you can be more confident of watching over your children.

The VM321 is a complete audio/visual monitoring solution that works for distances of up to 1000 feet between the camera and the base unit. You can view images at 22 frames per second on a 2.8 inch 320×240 pixel display screen. You also have the option of purchasing three additional cameras so you can view the video feeds from four angles/locations.

Two-way audio means you can listen to them gurgling or cooing; also, your children can listen to your voice and feel more reassured that you are around. There’s even a sensor to ensure that the children’s room is at the right temperature. There is a rechargeable battery in the parent unit so you don’t have to worry about replacing batteries frequently.

The DM221 also offers a range of 1000 feet. It does not offer video, but does offer Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) 6.0 technology that delivers reliable audio without interference from other home devices. This model too has up to 18 hours of battery life and comes with a rechargeable battery.
