iON Goggles, Built-in Video Camera and Viewing Screen

| January 30, 2012 |

We all the see the world differently, and unless you’re David Bailey, it can be hard to put your view of the world across with your trusty camera. If only someone could come up with a pair of glasses that could take snaps and film the world as it is in front of your eyes. Oh, wait, someone has done just that…

Zeal Optics are now happy to introduce their very own iON Goggles, which are meant to change the way you experience life. Alright, that is a bit of an overstatement for what they can do, but they are quite cool. They record true 1080p HD video, and can take 8 megapixel photos. They feature a viewfinder screen built-in, so you can make sure you are taking the perfect shot weather it be video or a photo.

You operate the camera by simply clicking a button on the side of the goggles. There is a 170 degree wide angle lens built into the glasses, which can your adjust images whatever the light conditions are, ensuring that you get the best photos possible. The goggles use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be used for six hours at a time.

Which depending on what you want to film, should give you plenty of time to create a masterpiece or two or three. These would be perfect for anyone looking to recreate the work done by shows like Peep Show. They’re probably not an essential item for budding film-makers, but are certainly an interesting gadget.

If you fancy a pair of your very own, you can pre-order the iON goggles from Zeal Optics for around $399 (£260). Take a look at the video from Zeal Optics:
