If you want to inject a bit of class into your lifestyle, and are looking for a reason to move on from that ill advised Citroen Picasso purchase, you’d do well to consider a Mercedes.
Depending on your budget, it may never amount to anything more than a consideration, but no one ever got anywhere thinking small, did they?
Mercedes cars of late have been a bit of a disappointment. Too much weight, little design coherence, quirky electronics and poor build quality have all blighted their newest machines.
Well, keen to recover from their recent embarrassments, they are introducing the 2013 SL. Taking cues from the glorious 1960s and 70s Pagoda SL’s, their latest offering is something of a beautiful beast.
Much lighter than its previous counterparts, thanks to a heavy (or rather light) injection of aluminium and an interesting array of air vents, it also has generous display of luxuriousness with its muscly rear wheel arches, dazzling upright grill and an interior that James Bond would even say ‘Ooh’ at.
The brand new Mercedes Benz SL will be on show at the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit, this coming January. If you can’t think of a better car for you, you’ll be able to get your hands on one next Summer.
Prices haven’t been announced just yet, but expect to pay more than the $100,000 (£68,320) price tag that came with the SL350. Alternatively, you could just pick up a model one to stick on the dashboard of your Picasso instead.
