Samuel Johnson is believed to have said “When speculation has done its worst, two and two still make four”. Fair point, that. But nothing anyone has ever said, or is going to say, is likely to reduce the rumour mills that work overtime especially when it comes to news purportedly about the imminent launch of an Apple product.
Thus it is that we now have reports that Apple intends to launch iPad 3 sometime in March or April. Considering that the iPad 2 was launched around that time this year, the projected timing is hardly surprising. This information is apparently based on reports in a Chinese newspaper that Foxconn has started producing the iPad 3.
The rumours get really interesting when they’re about iPad 3’s features. For example, it is speculated that the iPad 3 will have a retina display such as what is available on the iPhone 4S. It is further expected that the next generation of iPad will run on the A6 processor.
As always, there’s also speculation about how thick or thin the iPad 3 will be and whether it will have a curved glass display that is able to show 3D images.
And yes, it’s also rumoured that the iPad 3 will be equipped with Siri, the voice-activated personal assistant that is available on iPhone 4S.
Whoever said anything about patience being a virtue obviously did not have to make a tough decision in life, such as whether or not to buy an iPad 2 for Christmas this year!
