Do you prefer watching TV shows on your iPad or iPhone? Do you get annoyed when you can’t find the right remote for your DVD player or TV? Do you use your Apple device to control your home theatre or TV? Are you tired of having to move from app to app to switch channels?

If you said “yes” to any of the above questions, perhaps you ought to consider buying the VooMote Zapper. The VooMote Zapper, an offering from Zero1.tv, a leader in providing user interface solution for home entertainment, is quintessentially a dongle that you plug into the dock connector of your iPhone or iPad. In terms of size, the VooMote Zapper is no bigger than a paper-clip.

Once you download the free app from iTunes (the dongle itself costs $70), the 4 infra-red LEDs inside the dongle convert it into a universal remote control device. Your iDevice becomes a hub that controls your TV, DVD player and other gadgets that are part of your home entertainment ecosystem.

To cut a long story short, the VooMote Zapper transforms your iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPhone (3GS, 4, 4S) or iPad and iPad 2 into a remote control. All that will be visible is the paper-clip sized dongle to suggest that your iDevice has some extra help to perform its magic.

The VooMote Zapper is available in 11 colours and if you’re willing to pay $10 more than the base price of $70, you can also buy a matching case. Note that while the Zapper is compatible with iPod, iPhone and iPad, the matching colour case is available only for dongles that are compatible with the iPad 2, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th generation.

Don’t get too excited just yet, you’ll have to wait until sometime in 2012 to get your hands on the VooMote Zapper.
