I don’t mean that emotional baggage rubbish, I mean loads of stuff. Well fret not over your tangled wires and precariously stacked vinyl, because Smithson Martin have a shiny new solution – The Emulator.
It’s basically a 46 inch touch screen which has everything laid out virtually in front of you. Designed for use with Windows 7, The Emulator is a MIDI controller that works with Traktor Pro. For the software to work, you need a PC running Windows 7, with a Dual Core 1.3 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM and an ASIO sound card.
All of the information you’ll need to mix your sweet, sweet music illuminates on the Emulator’s display. You won’t have to reach for your records or iPod anymore, all of the tracks on your PC are illuminated on the colourful display, allowing you to easily control what you play.
Altogether the Emulator has 130 controls for you to play around with. The software is currently only compatible with Traktor Pro. The touchscreen display is available in three sizes, 32”, 42” or 46”, so whatever space you have there’s an option for you.
Obviously luxurious technology like this doesn’t come cheap. The Emulator costs between £4300 and £5600. If you would like to use the software on an existing tablet or touch device you can buy it separately for around £160.
