New AirPlay Speaker from Bang & Olufsen

When you think of Bang & Olufsen, you no doubt think of curved lines and clean angles. What you probably don’t imagine are picnic baskets. Well all that’s about to change as Bang & Olufsen’s new Airplay Speaker, has a Great Gatsby look about it.

This isn’t your usual high end audio visual gear, this is something else, this is – dare I say it – quaint! Looking decidedly liked an expensive wartime picnic basket, the new Airplay is all perforated grills and leather carrying straps.

Whilst the outward appearance would suggest something very much of the past, the item’s spec tells a different story. Instead of the Bluetooth connectivity that we’ve come to expect from such devices we instead have Wi-Fi. This Airplay Speaker is compatible with all Airplay friendly devices and computers.

You can of course have a wired connection too if you’re away from your router, there’s a handy 3.5mm jack built into the side of the device. This may be altogether too much for fans of Bang & Olufsen’s clean cut designs, but those who prefer something altogether more dazzling may find themselves with a new appreciation for the company.

There’s currently no news about a release date for the new AirPlay speaker, but seeing as its been FCC approved, there’s no reason to suspect that it couldn’t come out before the end of the year.

There’ no word on price yet either, but we all know what to expect from Bang & Olufsen – high quality, with a price to match.
