These days, our favourite music is stored on our phones, tablets computers or music players. While that’s convenient when one is on the move, there are times when one would prefer to listen to music unencumbered by earphones or headphones. It’s for times like these that you have gadgets such as Logitech’s Mini Boombox.

At its core, the Logitech Mini Boombox is a compact mobile speaker system that can be paired with any device that supports the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Profile (A2DP) standard.

If your mobile phone supports the Bluetooth Hands Free Profile HFP 1.5, you can even route your calls via the Logitech Mini Boombox, so that a group of people can listen in. A specially-designed acoustic chamber produces enhanced bass.

A practical situation for its use could be at an off-site meeting, where a senior manager from a remote location addresses the entire team without worrying about conference calls.

You can play audio or video clips on your mobile phone or tablet, routing the audio output to the boombox so that many people can listen to the audio at the same time. You can even use it to listen to your favourite music when you’re cleaning your yard or garden.

You can charge the boombox by connecting it to the USB port of your laptop. It also comes with its own power adapter. Once it is fully charged, the internal battery reportedly lasts for up to 10 hours.

The Logitech Mini Boombox has a backlit touch panel through which users can control it. It is priced at $100.
