Although that story was published 120 years ago, he might well have been talking about Apple and its products. Even Apple’s biggest detractors will acknowledge that buzz around the company and its product launches hardly ever dies down.
The latest rumours to do the rounds are about iPad 3. Macotakara, a Japanese blog site has quoted sources as saying that factories in China are working at top speed to produce the iPad 3 by the end of January. This is partly because of the week-long Chinese New Year celebrations between January 22 and 28.
It may also be because there is truth in the rumours claiming that the iPad3 will be launched in March 2012. That time-frame is consistent with the March 2011 and April 2010 launches of iPad 2 and iPad 1 respectively.
There are also voices that suggest that iPad 3 will be powered by an A6 processor. If that is true, then the iPad 3 launch is unlikely to happen before mid-2012.
Macotakara’s source also claims that the iPad 3 will have a redesigned dock connector that is smaller than what is used for iPad 2 and iPad 1. If this is true, it would cause some angst, as other existing accessories may not plug in.
There is also speculation that the new iPad will offer a 2048×1536 pixel Retina Display that would give it the same resolution of iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4G.
