LG DoublePlay, Android Smartphone on T-Mobile

Most people would agree that two is better than one, if we’re talking of something nice or useful. For instance, two scoops of ice cream for the price of one and similar “BOGOF” (buy one get one free) offers are inherently attractive to consumers, aren’t they?

LG applied the same logic to mobile phones, and concluded that there is a segment of customers that would prefer a smartphone that has two touchscreens instead of just one. That’s precisely what LG’s DoublePlay mobile phone offers.

As of now, it’s an exclusive with T-Mobile, though. It’s reported to be priced at around $150, and is expected to be available in another two weeks.

So if you’re a T-Mobile customer, maybe you should seriously consider getting yourself the LG DoublePlay. This smartphone does come with two capacitive touchscreen displays.

Oh, the joys of replying to work related emails on one screen even as you update your FaceBook status via the other! The 3.5” primary display is 320 x 480 HVGA, while the secondary display is smaller, at 2”. The two displays can be operated independently or in tandem.

The DoublePlay offers both a QWERTY keyboard as well as a virtual keyboard. The 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor gives it enough legs to multitask quite easily. This smartphone comes with a 5 megapixel rear camera that has an LED flash and can shoot HD video (720 pixels).

There’s also a camera on the front, to make video-calling easier. The LG DoublePlay runs on the Android Gingerbread 2.3 mobile operating system.
