Vizio 8″ Tablet, Wifi and Universal Remote Feature

You might have heard of Vizio and their regular association with creating budget tellies for avid box watchers, but their latest Android 2.3.2 powered, eight inch tablet with the rather glam ‘VTAB1008′ label is now available in a high street store near you.

Priced at around $330 / £220, the hand held tablet smacks quite a punch, both in looks and what it has to offer under the hood. It’s also quite a budget price too when compared to similar offerings from competing manufacturers.

Proudly showing off a nice, visually pleasing design, the Vizio 8″ is far from heavy and actually weighs less than its chunkier counterpart, the iPad 2. But, in order to achieve this weight-loss, the tablet is also tinier, so if you have big hands that may be a distinct downside. In this case three is not a crowd as the tablet comes complete with triple speakers and has a pretty good display with vivid colours that have a reasonable accuracy.

Under the bonnet lays a 1Ghz Marvell 600 Series processor and it also sports a camera on the front, 2 gigs of storage, a WiFi capability and place to put in a MicroSD or Micro USB. As with most Android products, you can also take your pick in what apps are installed on the Vizio.

The days of losing the remote and searching around under the sofa seem to be long gone by. The remote capability included by Vizio that comes with this gadget operates their own brand of television, but impressively it also talks to loads of other tellies too, enabling their operation. By using the Vizio Tablet infra-red capability (IR), alongside the bundled app which is run by a database of TV settings, this remote control use becomes possible.

So, for the price the Vizio is available it does seem to be quite a delicious little offer preventing the bitter taste of swallowing an overpriced tablet. We suggest you take your medicine now!
